one CraZy week!

This week was one wild ride! Mike was in Georgia for the week, so one of my good friends, Andrea, came up for the week to play and have some girl time. Or so we thought. Something weird, crazy, sick, or unfortunate happened every day!! I'll give you the list:

Tuesday
*Andrea arrives, feels sick and throws up and is in bed for pretty much the rest of the day.

Wednesday
*Andrea is feeling better, so we head for the Scera pool
*There are 2!! poop accidents in the pool. Sick! We left after the second one. I need to find some friends with pools, I cannot go back to the poop pool!

Thursday
*Anna and Ethan wake up with pink eye (from the sick water at the pool)
*Don't worry its the 24th of July and everything is closed, so I have to go to a not so quick Quick Care 20 mins away. All in all, it took about 3 hours just to get drops for their eyes.
*Andrea and I need a break, so we call a babysitter and go shopping. We forgot again that it was the 24th and all the cute little unique to Utah stores were closed or closed early (before we got there)
*We decide to eat at Cafe Rio (since we couldn't go shopping) and the power goes out.

Friday
*We decide to go up to Bridal Veil Falls for some fun. We get there and it is all taped off with police tape and there is a Sheriff there. He said some one set fire to the restaurant at the very top and the Falls were closed. Bummer.
*We go to Canyon View park instead. While trying to line the kids up on the bridge over the Provo River to get a picture, Aaron starts SCREAMING. I look at him and there are at least 30 wasps swarming him! I grab his arm and just start running, he tripped so I just dragged him until the wasps were gone. I didn't know what to do, all I could think of was RUN. Scary! He got stung 6 times on his arms. Here he is showing his stings, you can't see them very well in the pic, but they were like little welts. Good thing he is not allergic. He was very brave, he stopped crying before Abby and Aubrey did (they were not stung.)

*Also on Friday, Mike missed his connecting flight in Denver so he got home at 1am instead of 7pm.

Saturday

*So to top the week off, Andrea called about 30 minutes after she left our home headed for Vegas to say that Ethan threw up in the car. Nice way to end a vacation.

Believe it or not, we actually had a great time. It became very funny. We would say "I wonder what will happen next?!" It was just weird, sick, unfortunate things that happened, luckily nothing very serious. CraZy! Can't wait to do it again! Hopefully without all the bad stuff.

Timpanogos Cave

Yesterday we hiked up to the Timpanogos Caves. They told me it is a 1.5 mile very steep hike up, but for some reason I didn't really believe them. I think it hit me when I felt like we had hiked a long way and had taken several breaks, thinking we were more than half way up, only to see the one-fourth sign! It was then that I thought, "this is going to be a long, hard hike!" And it was! (Especially with kids, and Frank, and me being out of shape!)
But we made it and the caves were worth it. You need to see it in person.

My pictures make it look like you are inside some one's nose. In real life it is quite amazing. Lots of stalagmite and stalactite and other scientific things.

Don't worry Aaron was walking by himself next to a sheer cliff for just a second. :) He was carried pretty much the entire way. Funny story on the way down. Abby had to go to the bathroom now and the only bathrooms after the cave are at the very bottom. So Mike put her on his back and hurried to the bottom. The rest of us were much slower and farther behind. After a while I see a wet trail and a puddle. I jokingly said to Anna, "Looks like Abby didn't make it." Then just as we turned the corner we saw Mike and Abby sitting on the bench, and it was true, she didn't make it. We had some good laughs over that one!I added this pic of the map, just so you could see that it really was long and steep. I'm sure there are those who have hiked it and thought it was a breeze, but I am out of shape. It was hard. I think I'm OK not doing that hike for another 5 years at least. :)

Abby woke up this morning and said "My booty hurts!" I think we were all feeling it a little.

Grammy's Forsyth Reunion

The Forsyth family reunion was a lot of fun stretched over 4 days! I got to know a lot more of Mike's extended family. There are a lot of them and I don't think I'll ever be able to keep the names straight! We had a blast and made some new friends...well not new and they are really family, but you know what I mean.

A fun BBQ and movie under the stars. The next day was spent at Raging Waters, very fun! I found out that I am a total chicken and Anna is very brave.

We also had a way fun 70's/80's dance. There were some great costumes!

Check out Mike's high waisted white jeans! Yes, they were even pegged at the bottom! Too funny!

A trip down memory lane

OK, I've seen this on a few friend's blogs lately. So I thought I'd give it a try...

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Help!

We just finished a fun-filled four day Forsyth family reunion that I NEED to post about!
BUT...whenever I open my Photoshop Elements organizer it is completely FROZEN! I cannot do a single thing! I can't even close it, I have to press the "end now" button that comes up when "your program is not responding."
Help. Has this ever happened to anyone before and how do I fix it? Do I need to take my hard drive in and have a pro fix it? or is there something I can do?
If anyone has some ideas, it would be helpful. I can't get to any of my pictures. Thanks so much.

Busy Weekend

The weekend actually started on Thursday with Anna's 8th Bday. My parents and brother flew down and we had a great day. She wanted KFC for her birthday dinner, so we took it to the park and did some fishing. My brother helped Anna catch her first fish on her birthday, it was quite exciting.

She is very in to Disney Fairies, so a lot of her gifts were Tinkerbell things, including her ice cream cake.
I'm not really into character decor, so I made her this magnet board that had just a touch of Tinkerbell.

The 4th!

The next day was the 4th of July! We went to the Stadium of Fire in Provo (we have been anticipating it since April, I think) The main attraction this year was Miley Cyrus. We were so excited, thinking she would sing Hannah Montana songs or at least Miley songs we knew. Wrong. It was actually disappointing. The sound was terrible, you couldn't hear her voice very well over the background music. AND she sang songs from her brand new album that no one knew. It was actually boring until the last 2 songs when she sang something familiar. Too bad. BUT, the fireworks were amazing as usual.

Then we topped off the weekend with Anna's baptism. It was such a neat day. I couldn't believe my little girl was getting baptized. We taught her about the commitments she would be making and let her make her own decision. She said she prayed about it and knew that was what Heavenly Father wanted her to do. There was just a sweet spirit there. My mom and sister-in-law Holly gave great talks. My Dad teared up. And my little girl got baptized. In a small way she looks older to me now. I am so happy for her, but reluctant to let her grow up. The time goes too fast.

Totally Touching Story

Ok, I'm not really a "runner", but I have my goal to run a 5K so I like to read other "runner's" blogs (like "marathon mommies") Anyway, came across this runner's blog. It's a really touching, inspiring, make you realize how blessed you are, and treasure each day story.
It's a must read.

Lazy Summer Days...

I love them! I love playing hard and sleeping in late. I think it was around 10:30 when they finally got their "Honey Bunches" for breakfast. With it staying light at night for so long, dinner comes late, too. Often we are outside and lose track of time, before I know it its 7:30 and I still need to make dinner! There have been many dinners after 7 or 8pm. (That's kind of sad)
I love having my kids home from school, I love not having a set schedule, I love cold lemonade and ice cream to cool off. . .I really do love summer.
