poor sick boy

The little man started a high fever yesterday which is unfortunately bad timing. (Isn't that terrible I would even say that?!) But really, this is the girl's last week of school and with all the end of school programs, parties, teacher gifts, dance festivals, packing for upcoming vacation, etc. he could have picked a better week.
So today in between Preschool graduation and picking up our other from school I squeezed in a doctors appt. It was probably the worst one ever!

His temp was 102.5 and his ears and everything looked fine so she wanted to see his throat. I warned her he has a VERY sensitive gag reflex (he had already puked on me this morning just trying to take his temp) so, while trying to pry is mouth open and see his throat he throws up all over himself, me, the table, etc. Then she wanted to swab him for strep, threw up again! And since he puked on the swabs they don't even know if the results will be accurate. Nice.
Then for some reason he wanted his shoes OFF, now! And since his shirt was all wet and stinky, I took that off too. So we left the doctors office with only his shorts on, smelling like puke, and not even really knowing whats wrong with him. It was fabulous.

the canyon

Last weekend we decided, spur of the moment, to do a little BBQ up the canyon. We actually live very close to it. We can bike there from our house. This time we drove, because we had all the BBQ stuff. It was perfect weather and an awesome evening.

We took our friend Frank with us. We came to know Frank about 8 yrs ago in Vegas and he moved up here about a year before we did. We are seriously the closest thing he has to family (sad). He is a little bit like Rainman meets Forest Gump. Extremely smart in some areas, but slow in most others. Its hard for him to get and hold a job, but not for lack of trying. I really wonder what would happen to him if he didn't have the church.

After our delish dinner we walked up to the falls. Once we got there the kids and I decided to hike/climb up to the main falls. Less than half way up I was thinking "Helloooo, why is my little 2 yr old doing this?!"
So, I handed him to Mike and the girls and I continued up. We didn't get all the way up, but pretty far. We discovered going up is way easier than coming down! It was such a nice little break, I felt like I was on vacation!

going private

It kind of creeps me out that total strangers can see my blog, life, children, etc. I guess I'm feeling (over?) protective of my kids. So, if you want to continue checking out my blog (and ALL are invited) send me your email to mightymikeforsyth @juno.com or just put it in the comment box. Then you can still check it out. Thanks for understanding. :)

Happy Mothers Day and Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Mothers Day to all you moms and all those who have moms! I am so lucky to have a wonderful mother, example and friend. I love her!

I was so lucky this year because my b-day happened to fall right on Mothers Day. We laugh about it, but I make it clear that those are 2 seperate holidays...no double gifting. ;)

We went out to dinner Friday with some friends (the Flemings, for those of you who know them) and when we got home, Mike suprised me with a picture of the temple I REALLY wanted. He had been telling me that he couldn't get it, so it was a real surprise.
I also got this apron from "Flirty Aprons" in the mall. I saw them and they were SO cute, I wanted one! I don't know why, I've never worn an apron before, maybe it was the name. ;) I feel a little bit like June Clever now.

And my darling kids painted some mugs for me, well and a horse, too. That was from my Little Man. At 2 his painting skills are amazing. : )

I had a wonderful Birthday, thanks for all the cards, $$ to go shopping (thanks Mom), gifts, and well wishes!

dance recital

Our Little Princess had a dace recital. It is really fun at this age, its kind of like choriographed chaos. But as her parents, we of coarse think she is darling. After watching it she said, "I love it! I did such a good job!" As long as she feels that way thats all that matters. This is mostly for my parents who were unable to be there. Feel free to watch if you want or skip over. :)

Cinco de Mayo

In honor of Cinco de Mayo today, I made this really yummy salsa. I found it here. Like our Little Princess said, "it looks gross on the screen, but it tastes really good."

Corn and Avocado Salsa

1 can white corn, drained
1 can black-eyed peas, drained
1/2 bunch green onion, chopped
1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped
4 med. tomatoes, chopped
3 avocados, chopped
1 pkg. Good Seasons Italian dressing mix

Mix together all ingredients and chill overnight. (or just an hour or two:) )

DELISH!

flashback friday

This video is from the good ol' days when Mike was in the Bishopric of the Singles Ward. (Love you guys!;) )The ward had a Lip Sync Night, and this is the Bishopric's performance. Hilarious! There's just something about seeing the bishop doing a little Michael Jackson! :)

You'll have to pause the music on my playlist so you can hear the video.

P.S. I heard the Bishopric wives stole the show this year. Way to go ladies!!

Ok, this one is SPECIFICALLY because my husband wanted me to post it. It's our family on the same lip sync night doing an REM song. Super fun then, totally embarrassing posting it on my blog. You're welcome honey!
