Has anyone seen Wicked?

We bought the Wicked soundtrack last week and the girls and I are LOVING it! I haven't seen the musical so I've been trying to piece the story together. Has anyone seen it? I have a few questions:
* Is the Wicked Witch really wicked or just misunderstood? or both?
* Does it all end with you feeling bad for the wicked witch?
* What actually happens to make her bad?
* Is Glenda not so good after all?
Like I said, I haven't seen it. I could have this all wrong. I need a little story summary to help me understand it better. I want to see it SO bad! Thanks for your help!

Oh you have entered the world of Wicked....be prepared to hear your girls singing popular 24/7. Further, be prepared to wake up in the middle of the night with the Loathing or Gravity going through your head and you won't be able to sleep...tragic. Wicked is amazing. So here is the down low. Elphaba (the wicked) really is just terribly misunderstood but everytime she tries to do something right it seems to go wrong. At some point she finally gives up and decides to be "wicked." Really you wind up feeling horribly sorry for her. Glinda (really named Galinda) is just the popular brown noser who always does the right thing and says the right thing to get what she wants...she doesn't care who she steps on to do it. She isn't bad she is just very determined and sadly blindsighted by fame and forgets about friendship. So there is the quick character bios..lol. Any other ??

Hey Lisa!
How are you? I've been lurking and keeping up to date on your adorable family, but I had to post once I saw you talk about Wicked. It's SOOO good, if you ever get the chance, you've got to go see it! And you are definatly rooting for the wicked witch, we went and saw it in Seattle last year and I totally cried....so good! I think i've got to go listen to defying gravity, my favorite song! Take care.

I've never seen the musical, but have read the book. Or started to at least. The musical and the book must be drastically different because the book is HORRIBLE! I read about 1/4 of it and quit because it was disgustingly offensive and "wicked" to the core. Go see it, don't read it!

Hi Lisa,
your pictures and entries are so much fun to view. It looks like you're having a lot of fun in Utah. We miss you. I saw wicked twice this summer. Kerry and I loved it so much, we decided to take Brayden. If you ever get a chance to go, bring your girls. They would love it. It leaves you feeling good, but I have also heard to stay away from the book.

Alida pretty much covered it, LOL! We bought the music before we saw the play and there were a lot of surprises that the music doesn't reveal. It was really fun. I hope you guys can see it sometime--you'll love it!
